And here are these recommendations:

• For 2-4 weeks, it is necessary to refuse depilation with wax, sugaring, and the use of an epilator and tweezers. You can only use a razor and special shaving cream.
• A diode laser requires smooth skin, meaning you must shave all the body hair in the area you want to epilate.
• Avoid using a self-tanner for one week before treatment. Sunbathing and sunbeds are prohibited for two weeks before the appointment, with limited exposure allowed after the procedure. After treatment, it is advisable to use specific UV protection creams if it is impossible to protect the epilated skin from the sun.

The primary phases of the process:

• Consultation with a beautician. During the consultation and examination, the doctor will determine the amount of work required, assess the skin’s condition and calculate the approximate number of procedures needed.
• Preparing the area. The beautician will trim the body hair and clean the skin if necessary.
• Keeping the patient’s eyes safe. You will wear special glasses to avoid damaging your eyes with laser radiation.
• Using a gel layer when performing hair removal methods helps the device nozzle slide quickly and ensures complete contact with the skin. This gel is not necessary for alexandrite laser hair removal method.
• The actual laser exposure.

The procedure time depends on the size of the area to be treated, and it can last up to 90 minutes. For example:

Underarms – 10-15 minutes;
Shins – 20-30 minutes;
Legs completely – 60-90 minutes;
Deep bikini – 20-40 minutes.

• Do not use scrubs or exfoliants in the epilation area for at least three days.
• Do not go to the swimming pool, sauna, hot tub or jacuzzi for at least three days after the treatment.
• If redness occurs after the procedure, use panthenol to treat the skin’s surface.
• Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating or a sudden rise in body temperature.

Let’s talk about this. After laser hair removal, hair will grow if:

• You have only completed part of the procedure required for laser hair removal. The effectiveness of the treatment is achieved over a series of sessions, usually between 3 and 10 sessions. The number of sessions needed depends on individual parameters such as skin type, hair colour, and hair growth intensity.
• Light-coloured fine hair will start to grow. Many of these hairs are usually dormant, but after laser hair removal eliminates the coarse, dark hair, the soft hairs become active again because of hormones. This is a typical defensive reaction of the body. The laser’s energy is absorbed by this pigment and transferred to the root of the visible body hair – its bulb, which the heat destroys. There is little melanin in blonde hair, so the effect of the laser beam does not give a good result (especially with the Alexandrite laser). Diode lasers with longer wavelengths can be used to treat blond hair.
• The body’s defensive reaction. After the treatment, new dark, stiff hairs may appear, and there will be more of them than before the laser hair removal. The laser kills the roots of actively growing hairs. The body’s natural ability to withstand cold weakens, causing reflex protection systems to step in, such as stimulating dormant and undeveloped hairs. This is a normal process. Therefore, a series of procedures is required to eliminate unwanted growth.

• Laser settings are a specialist’s job. Depending on the part of the body, hair follicles are located at different depths and may contain various amounts of melanin ( bare or fluffy black hair). The specialist must set the laser and the wavelength correctly. It is a mistake to treat the bikini line first and then move on to the upper lip area without changing the machine settings.

The Alexandrite laser has a built-in dual cooling system, but the procedure can be felt. In hypersensitivity, the beautician will apply a local anaesthetic (anaesthetic cream or lidocaine spray).

The doctor uses a diode laser and protects the treated skin with a unique cooling gel. This is enough to make the procedure as comfortable and painless as possible.

Sessions should be performed at intervals of 1 to 2 months.

This interval is conditional and depends on the area:

For the face – from 1 to 1.5 months;
For bikini area – from 1 to 2 months;
For the lower legs – 1.5-2 months.
