Lash lamination

If done correctly, the method might result in a more expressive and open look that lasts a few weeks. Four major components make this possible:

• Easy care. Unlike extensions, the procedure requires no extra attention: you can sleep with your face on the pillow and wash off the makeup with your usual products.
• Health benefits. If everything is done correctly, lamination makes the lashes thicker and more vital.
• Girls who prefer natural beauty will love the natural result. With lamination, lashes look as if they are naturally thick and long—there is no heavy look.

• Temporary result. The lashes are completely renewed after three to six weeks, and the lamination result disappears.
• Accumulative effect. The perfect curve does not appear immediately for everyone. Sometimes, it takes two or three treatments to achieve it.
• There is a risk of damaging the lashes. Frequent treatments, poor solution composition and incorrect application, can seriously damage the hair, leaving it thin, weak and broken.

Lash lift treatment is a relatively simple cosmetic procedure but has limitations. People with inflammatory eye conditions are advised to avoid lamination as the formula used can cause further problems if applied too close to the eye’s mucous membrane.

Lamination is also not recommended for pregnant women due to unpredictable results caused by hormonal changes. In addition, those with allergies to components such as keratin should not undergo this cosmetic procedure.

Suppose someone has sensitive skin and is prone to irritation and rashes. In that case, it is best to do a patch test on the elbow before applying the formula to the weak eyelashes, as the skin around the eyes is even more delicate.

Many beauty salons offer lamination by professionals such as cosmetologists, eyebrow artists, and laser specialists trained in eyelash extension and modelling.

You don’t need to do any prior preparation for lamination, but you are recommended not to wear eye makeup on the day of the procedure. The specialist will remove makeup before the procedure begins if it is present.

During the procedure, the client must sit comfortably, close their eyes, and be patient. It involves curling the weak eyelashes upwards and applying two to four chemical products. A complete classic lamination procedure involves seven steps:

Preparatory

The lower lashes are gently separated from the upper eyelids and secured to the skin with a particular patch to prevent accidental curling.

Upper eyelid eyelashes 

Apply a silicone roller near the base of the lashes, choosing the size (S, M, L) according to their length. Longer lashes require a thicker roller for a more attractive curl.

Fixing hairs on the roller

The lashes of the upper eyelid are curled upwards, carefully placed on a roller and attached with a special bonding agent. Instead of clumping together, the hairs are aligned parallel and can be separated with a special brush or applicator.

Lash softening

Product No. 1 is used on the eyelashes to separate the hair and make them more flexible. The unique product is left on for 10 minutes before being wiped off with a cotton swab.

Keratin

Applying keratin to eyelashes in composition No. 2 helps give the lashes the desired shape and strengthens them. The product is left on for 10 minutes, allowing the hair scales to seal and the desired curve to be set.

Eyelash colouring

If you prefer, you can have your eyelashes tinted by a professional. The specialist will mix the chosen tint with an oxidising agent and apply it evenly to the lashes. This process usually takes 10-15 minutes. 

Colour fixation 

Composition No. 3 with functional ingredients is applied to the lashes to increase their strength, secure the pigment and form a protective layer. The recommended application time is up to 10 minutes, but this simple step is optional.

After the eyelashes are taken off the rollers, they are combed through to separate the hairs and remove any remaining glue from the skin. Following the lamination process, the specialist provides aftercare instructions, typically advising clients to avoid getting their lashes wet for the initial 24 hours, refrain from using makeup, and avoid touching their eyes. It is also recommended to prevent bending the lashes for a week and to refrain from visiting the bath or sauna to ensure better retention.

Lash care can be divided into a few phases:

• For the first 24 hours after the procedure, it is essential to treat your eyes gently;
• Avoid rubbing, applying mascara, combing lashes or wiping in any way.

The main advantage of eyelash lamination is that it requires no special care. However, there are some basic rules to follow:

• Do not use alcohol-based makeup removers (in fact, you should not use such products at all);
• Do not rub the lashes chaotically and roughly with cotton wool sponges;
  choose lotions and toners with minimal oil content.

Lash lamination can be done either in a salon or at home using ready-made kits that can be purchased. These kits usually come with all the necessary items, such as solutions, application brushes, silicone rollers and sometimes even dye.

They also include detailed instructions for each step of the process. The steps for home lamination are usually similar to those in a salon, and instructions for home procedures can be found online.

While home kits are available and can provide results, it is generally recommended that professionals do the procedural. The solutions used in lamination contain chemicals that can be harmful if they come into contact with the eye’s mucous membrane, potentially causing injury or burns. In addition, leaving the solutions on the lashes for too long can cause them to become weak rather than strong.
